Introducing the new and improved /r/pics takedown process

Hi everyone! There comes moments where we have to remove a post for a reason outside our normal set of rules. While these takedowns are extremely rare, there was not set process for handling them.Due to the sometimes sensitive nature of these takedowns, it was hard to properly manage and often led to estranged users struggling with how to get something done.To clarify, we use the term "takedowns" to refer to removing a post outside our normal ruleset in cases of copyright infringement and personal information infringement.I keep how many takedowns we get in the monthly transparency report. It's pretty low, rarely more than 2 a month. Even then, we get so few simply because people don't know what to do for the process. To make things smoother for everyone involved, we have introduced a proper takedown system, allowing for users to quickly understand the scope of takedowns and what is required from them. We will be improving the process as time goes on. Let me know if you have any questions. The takedown process information and instuctions can be found at /r/pics/w/takedownFAQWhy did you do this?Previously, a "takedown" at /r/pics was not a defined process. This often caused a lot of hassle for us and for the users involved. Is a /r/pics takedown a legal matter? No. This is just an informal method of getting a thread removed for copyright or personal reasons. We can deny any takedown for any reason. Anyone looking for a more formal and legal process should contact legal@reddit.comWhat if you don't accept my takedown? There are many reasons we might not accept a takedown. Please contact the image host and legal@reddit.com to go through a more formal and thorough process of getting an image and thread removed. Can you remove the image? No, we can only remove the thread for showing on listing pages or search. People with the direct link will be able to access the post and the image. If you would like the image removed, you must contact the host of the image. We highly suggest any user to go through the image host first/alongside a /r/pics takedownCan I request takedown on comments? No, use modmail or the normal reddit report systemCan I request takedown on rule breaking posts?Unless the issue is copyright or personal information, please use the reddit report function underneath every post. Can I file a takedown on someone elses behalf?NoWhy is this such a big deal / big process? It's actually very informal, but dealing with sensitive information can be a bit of a big deal. Reddit modmail is not an appropriate avenue for private information. Are takedowns logged? From here on, yes, at /r/picstakedownAny other questions, ask below!
