March 2017 transparency report
Hi everyone! A few things to bring up this month!New title guidelines! We just recently changed our title rules, which you might have missed because of our April Fools fun! Specifically, we added a new guideline to rule 4.[post titles] must directly relate to the event in the picture. We hope this new guideline will reduce posts that are used as "twitter with bigger icons", virtue signalling, and "news posting" - You can read more on our title wiki page here: https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/wiki/titlesReworking these reportsStarting next month, I would like to add a few things to the data within this report. Firstly, I would like to keep a 3 month running total and in 2018 I will also start a YTD total, so you can better see how we are doing over long periods of time. I want to include more data, and will be adding more feilds to this data below starting next month. I would like to be more open with the tools we use, and how we use the mas well. I hope to include more data about our toolbox usage, bans, and posts as well.Right now, the difficulty lies within collecting the data itself. I have no way to measure something as simple as how many posts we got in a month. I would like to look into collecting this data on my own, so I can start to provide better insight, such as what % of posts we remove, our average modmail reply time, and things of this nature. It's easier said then done and I won't have these problems solved by next month, but it's something I'm actively working on.StatsCategoryDataDifferenceCommentTotal Actions43339Down ~1000Overall, moderator action decreasing. Much of this can be ruled to political things relaxing and requiring less action on our part. ~1000 is a pretty natural varienceSubmission Removals12260≈Comment Removals10601Up ~1500As far as comment rules go, things in this department have increased. We have been reworking some automoderator rules we initially had in report mode to remove mode as we become more confident in these filters.Posts Approved4387Down ~500Again, as we touch-up automoderator, we hope to see this number go down (as it inidcates less false positives in general) - This number also indicates posts we rescue from reddit spam filtersComments Approved5129≈SameBans1224Up ~200Includes temp and perma - This number varies quite often, but rarely is under 1000 and over 1500Unbans91~Does not include temp bans expiringReports Ignored1111~Keep reporting stuff !!Stickies Made559Up ~50Automoderator now stickies some of its comments.Posts Locked7Up 6More locking than months before, but still a low number. We lock posts when they require so much moderation activities that we can't properly watch and handle the rest of the subredditedit:Reddit Administrators made no actions the month of March. We recieved no takedown requests for the month of March
